Detox- Infrared Sauna

Traditional Sauna vs Far Infrared Sauna

Traditional Saunas (Finnish or hot rock) heat the surrounding air. This creates a very hot environment, with temperatures around 180F to 220F. In this type of sauna your body sweats in an attempt to cool itself down. The sauna user will usually adjust the humidity to protect the body’s mucous membranes by splashing water on the heating element. This creates the steam-filled environment Finnish saunas are known for.

Far Infrared Saunas do not heat the surrounding air in the same way. Instead, they heat the body directly with infrared heat waves and raise the body's core temperature instead of its surface temperature. This allows for a much lower temperature within the sauna, typically 110F to 140F. There is no need to increase the humidity within the sauna and therefore the sauna won't be filled with steam. It takes much less time to heat an infrared sauna because it isn't necessary to raise the air temperature as high in order to begin the session.

A traditional Finnish-style sauna heats you from the outside-in, while an infrared sauna heats you from the inside-out.

Because of the lower temperatures, infrared saunas are better for people who find the high temperatures of traditional saunas uncomfortable.

Current medical history::

  • Pregnant or lactating
  • Recent (acute, within 48 hours) joint injury, chronically hot and swollen joints, enclosed infections (either dental, in joints or any other tissue).
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Unstable hypertension
  • Severe hypotension
  • Hemophilia and/or a predisposition to hemorrhage
  • Superficial metallic implants (ie. metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implant due to the reflection of infrared rays by these articles
  • Diabetes also use insulin subcutaneous injections

  • Take medication that may reduce perspiration ability [eg. diuretics, barbiturates, ß-blockers]

The Basics of Far Infrared

Infrared light (or energy) is part of the invisible light spectrum. Our bodies perceive this type of light as heat. Almost everything produces infrared light. The task of an infrared heater is to produce infrared light in a range that is beneficial to the human body.

What is EMF?

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are a type of low-frequency electromagnetic radiation emitted from virtually everything electrical and electronic in our modern world. Everything from cell phones, to TVs and microwaves give off EMFs. EMFs are invisible to the human eye. After extensive research, to date there is no evidence to conclude that exposure to low level EMFs is harmful to human health.

Why would you want low EMF?

Generally, the less EMF the better. In one test, a Gauss meter was used to measure everyday common areas that the average person would venture into. The result: No place indoors or outdoors had a reading of zero; typical "background" levels are 0.5 to 2.0 milligauss (mG). Like electric fields, magnetic fields are strongest close to their origin and rapidly decrease at greater distances from the source. Therefore, distancing yourself from electronics can be helpful in lowering your EMF exposure.

Benefits of Infrared Sauna:

Detoxification - Sweating is the body’s safe and natural way to heal & stay healthy. Far infrared sauna benefits the body by heating it directly causing a rise in core temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins reside.

Relaxation - Unlike traditional saunas which operate at extremely harsh temperatures, infrared is a gentle, soothing and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improved sleep. Infrared sauna benefits include therapy that helps you relax while receiving an invigorating deep tissue sweat, leaving you fully refreshed after each session.

Lower Blood Pressure - infrared saunas induce a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and helps circulation. Scientific evidence shows the infrared sauna benefits using an infrared sauna a couple times a week lowers blood pressure.

Anti-Aging & Skin Purification - The near infrared wavelength (sometimes referred to as Red Light Therapy) is the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. Near infrared treatments stimulate collagen production to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin tone.

Currently have:

  • Diabetes also use insulin subcutaneous injections
  • Also have neuropathy
  • Acute or chronic edema or lymphedema (swelling of the wrists, ankles, etc.)
  • Cholinergic urticaria, acantholytic dermatosis, malaria, severe burns/scarring/heat rash
  • Am attempting to conceive (male or female)
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Take street/recreational drugs (please circle either past or present) [eg. amphetamines, heroin, cocaine]
  • Take medications which may predispose me to heat illnesses when exposed to heat [eg. sympathomimetics, anticholinergics, tricyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, phenothiazines]
  • Take medication that may reduce perspiration ability [eg. diuretics, barbiturates, ß-blockers]
  • Please remember that infrared heat is simply radiant energy in the form of a band of light that radiates heat penetrating the skin to a depth of 1½ inches or more. This radiant heat is efficient because it warms the body internally, not the air. To regulate the temperature of the infrared sauna during use, open the door for cooling.
  • For optimal results, refrain from using the sauna on a full stomach.
  • It is important to remain hydrated. For best results, drink water prior, during and after your sauna session.
  • Do not apply excess body lotion to your body prior to a sauna session.
  • At the first sign of a cold or flu, increasing sauna sessions may be beneficial in boosting the immune system and decreasing the reproductive rate of viruses and bacteria.
  • As your body becomes more heat conditioned, you may want to have the sauna session increased to 45 minutes or longer. Please remember to hydrate your system with plenty of water during the full session.
  • Note: Many people with heavy metal, chemical or pesticide toxicity levels may find it difficult to sweat initially, for some individuals it may require 5-10 sessions before measurable sweat volume is evident, but continuous water intake will enhance detoxification. Even without measurable sweat, the infrared sauna is helping to eliminate toxins through urine, bowels and hair.
  • To treat your ankles and feet more effectively, elevate them while in the sauna. Any area you wish to achieve a specific deep heating effect should be placed as close to the infrared emitters as feels comfortable.
  • Cell Health - Near infrared therapy stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface to improve cell health, aid in muscle recovery and strengthen the immune system.

  • Weight Loss -Studies have shown that benefits of an infrared sauna session can burn upwards of 600 calories while you relax! As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.

  • Pain Relief- Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints, and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia. Pain management professionals incorporate infrared heat therapy into treatment plans to decrease pain and muscle spasms and to speed up recovery time.

  • Improved Circulation -Heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in blood flow similar to that seen during exercise. Regular infrared sauna use—especially in the mid infrared range—can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate.

  • Wound Healing - Scientific research has concluded that near infrared therapy greatly enhances the skin’s healing process by promoting faster cell regeneration and human tissue growth. Human cell growth increases to repair wounds and prevent infection.

Relaxation is no longer beyond your budget
